AIR FRESHENER

 

We all like fresh air but sometimes unpleasant odors abound and our air gets stale, stagnant and

sometimes just plain old stinky. So we get out the air freshener and breath a little easier.

 

Did you know that you can be an air freshener? Your presence can bring a godly perfume into any room.

The Apostle Paul said, “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ and through us

diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of

Christ …” (II Corinthians 2:14-15a). Imagine that, you and I can permeate any place with the Christ’s

knowledge and notoriety. Unpleasant odors abound. Things stink! May God help us to freshen the air

with His pleasant aroma.

FAR AWAY

 

Do you ever daydream? Where have you been? I’ve been all over the world and had many adventures

in my imaginary world. And isn’t it amazing when we travel on these journeys. We travel while attending

the mandatory staff meeting or training seminar or while listening to cousin Joe’s old stories.

 

Do you ever daydream in church? Is your mind fully engaged? Unfortunately we can do pretty well getting

through all the verses of Amazing Grace and Just As I Am and never really think about God. How easily

distracted and distant we can be. Jesus captured the essence of our mental escapes as He addressed

the hypocrites of His day by citing Isaiah who wrote, “These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and

honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me.” (Matthew 15:8). It is possible to have our mouth

 engaged but our mind distracted. So think now, how far away am I?
